I have a three day weekend, and am hoping to get some scrapping done. I am currently working on an entire album of mosaic pages. My two sisters and I went to a park that has a mill back on my birthday, and I took almost 200 pictures there. So made my own grid paper and am working on that currently.
What are your crafty plans for this holiday weekend?

I was supposed to spend the weekend at camp, visiting friends, seeing the fireworks, etc., but I'm having serious problems with my asthma so I will be staying home. The good news is it will give me some time to play when I have the energy. I'm hoping to complete a gift tote and card set for a co-worker, but I also want to do some general scrapping - I never feel behind, because I'm a free-wheeling scrapper, I look through pictures and scrap what captures my fancy. As an example, my youngest turned 20 at the end of May and I just scrapped his pre-school graduation! :)

I hope to get something done --
I'm just not exactly sure what just yet LOL
We have been without a computer for a while now and just bought a new one so DH is wanting to get some online gaming in, which means I don't get use of it all weekend. It may sound crazy, but I don't know how to craft without my computer. Pitiful, I know!

My honey and I are leaving on a 14 day road trip next week, so I most likely will not have much time for crafting - catch up on laundry, stuff at work . . . Some misc challenges for PCC and getting ready to get out of "dodge" . . . :) He asked me if I wanted to go to Provo Craft wen we went thru Utah . . .
I must have had a look of confusion on my face, because he said "I do pay attention to you "sometime" lol! I had no idea that he had any idea what Provo craft was, let alone that it might have something to do with scrapbooking and cards! :) I guess he does listen to me . . . ?

WOW! My husband would be willing to stop at a place like Provo craft if I wanted to, but he would NEVER volunteer it! :D Tell your hubbie, we're all impressed! :D

Heather - glad to hear someone else likes doing mosaic pages! I just finished a couple myself - I'll have to post them. This weekend I'm going to work on a new project for my shop - a pet baby book!
My hubby is out of town also at a convention in San Antonio and won't be home till Sunday afternoon, so I am hoping to get all my July swaps for here done AND want to finish up some of my Personal Shopper kits..and I want to do a little reorganizing also! I really need to sort thru all the embellishments, flowers etc. and get them sorted out a little more than they are now.

Cheryl, I don't actually mind the clean-up / reorganizing part, because I always find something I've forgotten about and that usually makes me feel like diving right into a project!

I KNEW there had to be a better way of looking at it! ;) I was just seeing it as WORK! (With what I've got to clean up, I ought to find several things I've forgotten about! :D)
there you go! just think of it as INSPIRATION time! My problem is- the only place I have to spread stuff out is on my bed...so then I HAVE to get it done or I have no place to sleep!!!

Nan, you do mosaics too?! This is the first time I've done them, and I enjoy it. I'll have to post them when I get done.
Hey Jodi, have fun in BC! I haven't seen fireworks there in quite a few years. Traffic is too busy with the balloon fest going on.

Well, it looks like my weekend will be taken up with strawberries. We just got a BUNCH of really good looking strawberries. I was afraid I'd missed out this year. They're often gone by now. I was glad to find some good ones!
However, they don't have a long shelf life, so I need to do whatever I'm going to do with them. I'll probably freeze most of them, but I'll dry some, too. I love dried strawberries! YUM! :D
Heather

I love strawberries! Never heard of dried ones tho. Do you make any jam? My one sister just made a batch of raspberry jam. Smelled sooo yummy!
Cheryl

I haven't decided if I'll make jam. I think I'll freeze most of them & can decide about jam later. Some say using frozen berries gives better jam results anyway.
mmmmm....strawberry pie!!!

I am waiting for a big order from PW and then focus on making masculine cards as I rarely make any. My cards go to Operation Write Home Canada. I assume mosaic are made on sort of grid lines? I'm not sure what is a mosaic and what isn't. Joyce (lavendar66)

Joyce, here (http://forum.paperwishes.com/album.php?albumid=24&pictureid=5087) is a good example of a mosaic that Nan did. Usually mosaics are either all cut into 1" squares, or sometimes one or more pics are left whole with the squares filling in the rest. Hope that helps.

You can buy paper that already has a grid on it from Mosaic Moments (Tami Potter), but you can also make it yourself. Make your first line at 3/8" then every 1 1/8 inch across the page. Then do the same thing in the other direction. Line all your pictures up against the top left (really can be any side, but just make sure they're all aligned on the same side) - I do top left. Now, when leaving pictures whole, you need to consider that you have to make up that 1/8" in between. So:
1 square = 1 inch
2 squares = 2 1/8 inch
3 squares = 3 2/8 inch
4 squares = 4 3/8 inch
5 squares = 5 4/8 inch
6 squares = 6 5/8 inch
see the pattern? = the number of 1/8ths is always one less than the number of squares.
If you want to check out Tami Potter's products, please go to my blog and click on the link I have near the top right! (I get credit!) :)

Off in a bit to my fav sb store to crop the day away! :D
wish there was a LSS here so I could do the same. There was a scrapbooking group that used to meet once a week in our little community center, but I heard about it after they quit meeting...and I can't find out who was running it. Did just find out about a crop held at a church in Victoria though - that's about an hour away so maybe I'll check it out one of these Friday nights!
Trish, what is Gala Day??

This sb store we go to is almost an hour away, but we love it. I think it's also the closest. Anyway, had a great time, and I got 4 mosaic pages done. My album is turning out so nice, and I can hardly wait to do some more on it.

Oh, and I wanted to add something funny! I had the day off because of the holiday falling on Sunday, and all the other banks in our area were closed, so last week ours decided to close too. But dh never paid attention to that when I told him. He sent me a text when he got out of work, and I told him I was in Sturgis. He asked what I was doing there. I told him sb'ing with my sister. He wanted to know why I wasn't working! lol

I just finished a sympathy card for Paulette.Since she has been a great teacher to me along with Sara I had to make sure it was perfect.I had to redo a few things but I think she will like it.Wouldn't you know half way down the page my green pen started to give out on me!!! I had to go over and over the words!!! UGH Now that is a big IRK!!! I have another green pen so I thought I'd finish it with that.It was dried up also!!! Me and green are not getting along too well today. What's a girl to do?

LOL Yes,Heather some days are just like that. Those 2 pens are now in the trash never to rear their ugly heads again!!! :D Boy that felt good to hear them hit the bottom of the can!!!TO VICTORY AND BEYOND...Heard that somewhere... No it's,TO INFINITY AND BEYOND,or something like that!!! LOL I think I need to go take my meds!!!! Ok,I did.Now where was I? Oh,yes. Heather, how is things around your life nowadays? We here in Ohio are having a major heat wave and I do mean MAJOR!!!! My poor air conditioner is working so hard.I sure hope it doesn't die on me!!! My niece Jennifer is getting married tomorrow so I am trying to decide what to wear so I don't look like a melted candle.I am rather on the oily side and with the humidity I expect my mascara to be down to my chin by the reception!!! I have been letting my nails grow out so they will look nice when I polish them. They are so long now that I am having a hard time typing on my keyboard.LOL Guess what I did? Now this is funny...I wanted a french manicure but I don't have $50.00 to go and have it done professionally. So I got the bright idea to...put whiteout under my long nails and then put on a clear coat of polish.LOL Am I nuts or what!?!? LOL I asked a few of my neighbors how it looked without telling them what I did and they all thought they looked lovely.LOL I even fooled my husband. When I showed him he asked me how much did that cost me!?!? I just laughed and told him what I did.Of course,he just rolled his eyes  and said UGH...Sandy...where do you get these crazy ideas? Hey,Heather,I wonder how many on the MB are going to try this? I just bet some will, just to see how it looks.Oh,by the way,I used a whiteout pen so it gets way down to the whole nail.If anyone is interested.LOL Chat with you later Heather. Hey,everyone I really did do the nail thing.Let me know how your nails turn out.LOL Sandra

Sandra, you are too funny! I can't have very long nails, as I type a lot on the keyboard, plus the other machinery I work with would just break them off. But you are certainly resourceful! Let me know how long they last! Heat wave here too! I cannot stand the heat, so glad we have central air!

Hi Sam,I have the same problem you do with my crafting space. My bed is my spread out place for my craft stuff. We live in a small apartment so I have had to resort to using a small corner in my bedroom to use as a work space. If it is time for bed and I am not finished with a project I just pile it all together on a big shelf next to my desk and spread it out again when I have time to work on it again.I am constantly reorganizing so I can keep track of what I have and try and use it.Last week I hung my large punches on the wall above my desk. That was a really good idea. Now I don't have to trudge through all the punches to find the one I want.I put the smaller ones in a basket so those are easier to deal with also.I also did this last week... yes,I gave away some of my craft paper that I keep putting on the bottom of the pile because I can't seem to get any good ideas for a card project with the designs.I gave it to a friend of my daughters who is a crafter. What a relief. Now I don't have it looking at me all day saying,"USE ME,USE ME!!!" LOL :p Anywho chat with you later Sam. Sandra :)

Imagine my instant delight when after being away for some months i log on and find a darling story/ And it is about a husband of all things, hubby's and scrapbooking.
My DH does not always have his litening ears on.. or that is how I feel sometimes anyway.
However, He is my most objective supporter when it comes to any of my arts and hobbies. I am surprised often when he starts to share with me a layout idea, color combo, or better yet a journaling note, that he himself came up with.
I made him two coaster albums in which he listed the" 10 Top things I want you to know" for our two grandchildren.
After 39 years of marriage he still amazes me ith things i did not know about him.

 Heather,I just couldn't stand the long nails any more!!!So this is what I did. Last night after the reception as I watched the late news I bit off all the nail polish which I love to do especially when it is on really thick. Then I got my trusty nail clippers and cut them off down to the nubs whiteout and all!!! I am sooo weak!!! Now though I am not hitting the wrong keys on my keyboard.AAHHH freedom.:p Sandra
