I belong to a group who send out cards to anyone who asks for them. Many of the ones we send are for very sad reasons. I have several card making mags and four books, and only one mag shows a sympathy card? I don't know why we have ignored a very large part of life. But if anyone knows of a place where I can find some ideas some, please share.
Thanks Jessica

Hi Jazzy! I have had the same problem, but a few months ago Paper Trey Ink released a stamp set that was designed specifically for sympathy cards. It's called With Sympathy. Here's the url: http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_withsympathy.html

If you check out the link, you'll see the set. On the right hand side is the View Gallery button. The company's designers have posted a variety of samples using the set. Follow the links and browse around, too--tons of great examples are available. I bought the set and it really is beautiful. They also have an add on sentiment set that has sentiments for a child and pets, so the set is really versatile.

Hope that helps.

I have a Joanna Sheen CD Rom called Heavenly which is ideal for sympathy cards. :) Trish

Thanks, also from me! I had the same trouble when I searched the net for sympathycards. It means so much more to make a card for people that you love than buying a card...

Why do the magazines not show these cards... I think many people struggle with sympathy cards!

I have subscribed to CardMaker Mag. for about 5 yrs. now I wouldn't be without them! Every issue has at least 3-4 different sad type cards. They will have several different types cards for other occasions beside what the Months features are. May-June issue has all sorts for Mothers Day, Grad. and etc. This mag. is the Best I have seen and I do have others! I never use just what there is in mag. step by step but sometimes I mix and match. Oh yes there are a couple pages of quotes in each issue.:)

I subscribe to the online and the regular version -(Talk about addict). I love the magazine. I take the pages and file them according to theme in a file cabinet so when I need a certain card and I'm out of ideas, I just go to the drawer and pull out those cards to get inspiration.

I do something similar too. I take the ideas and keep them filed in a binder. I especially like it when I run across a nice sentiment. I can never think of one when I need it so off to the binder I go.

I also have a set from Stampin' Up! with all sympathy sentiments. They're out there. And usually when I find one I snatch it up. Unfortunately, it seems I send more sympathy cards any more than I do birthday cards!
