My HP 3 in one printer died on me. It stopped printing with black ink. I need a new one. What is a good printer to get? Thanks

Well I won't be any help -- I have the HP all in one. I have had it for several years and so far so good...sorry no help here.
I have heard of some new ones that will print on 12X12 paper and I think that will be the one I get next.

Since I do a lot of custom photography printing, I've been doing some research in the area of printers, and I'm leaning heavily with either the Canon, or the Epson. But then, I want a printer with all the bells and whistles, too. You didn't state what you print most, though. I've been printing on a Dell All-in-one for about 4 years now. It prints great - but I'm too picky when it comes to photo printing. Sorry - can't help much - but for the $$ - Epson seems to have it all over everyone else so far.

I have always preferred Hewlett Packer printers for years. Laser or inkjet. Right now I use a Photosmart 3210 All-in-one. It scans, copies and prints. It is great for photos, printing (borderless) downloaded paper (saves lots of money) and scanning old photographs to use copies for scrapbook pages. <><

I have two HP: one all in one for everyday printings and the other for photography and 8X8 (not a widemouth -sigh) also the odd digital image printing. Both work great and they're networked. If you want to do specialty printing for scrapbooking and photographs may I suggest to go for a printer only no all-in-ones as if something breaks you lose a scanner too.

I'm sorry about your printer giving its ghost up but at times it's cheaper to buy a new one than trying to fix them.

My next printer will be a A3/Widemouth printer so I can indulge in printing 12X12 ! :D

I have used both the HP and Epson. My HP did not last very long (I have had 3). I don't know if it had anything to do with using the cheaper inks or not but now I am trying a HP and I do like it. It seems to me that I do not use up ink as fast as I did on the Epson. I don't print any pictures on the HP even though it is a HP Photosmart. I have most of my pictures printed through Shutterfly as I think it is cheaper then printing my own. When I do print pictures (4x6) I use the Epson PictureMate which is just for 4 x 6 and I love it....

I have an Epson Stylus Photo RX620, and for everything but printing photos it works great. I haven't had good luck printing photos, but was told it's the paper I used, not the printer. This one is supposed to be able to scan negatives, but I haven't tried that yet. Best wishes finding one to fit your needs! :)

Hi everyone!
I have a Canon i850 that I've had for several years now and just love. It is on the low end price wise but prints photos beautifully. I was not digital at the time of purchase but I know there are some great Canon printers that ready memory cards. My reasoning for the purchase was that the local camera store sold several models so it was probably a quality machine. You can't go wrong with a store that has been in business for 65 years!

IU would like to know more about the Kodak easy share --is that the one that the ink cardridges last longer? I thought about buying that one

I have the Epson stylus Photo 1400 that prints the large page over 12 x 12 and the pages are great --will be printing up a tone of digital layouts I did in the last few months in the next week or so. But have found it is to expense for just normal printing a have an old laser black/white printer my dh's work threw out and a Hp 1200 color printer that does a good job on 8 1/2 x 12 copies and seems to last longer than my old Epson did -but I am going to go the refill ink cardridge route this next few cardridges to see how it does for just normal printing and save my money for ink cardridges for my Epson's 1400

I have an HP C5280 all in one and it works terrific! I actually have two, one for home and one for my office. It prints pretty good photos, scans, copies. I think it's also a fax but I don't need or use that function. I've had both printers for a little over a year now. Ordered directly from the hp dot com

I just have one of those $25 HP's. The ink costs more than the printer did. I've had it nearly two years, which is a year longer than I thought it would last. I use it mostly, but not only, for journalling.

:D:D LOL it's funny but it's not - - I made a vow that next time before I BUY, I'm going to first find out how much the ink is. Ink for my Dell is outrageous. So much so that I have all of my photos printed at Ritz Camera and print only my specialty sizes smaller than 4x6 at home. Which - kind of defeats the purpose of having a photo printer.

I have the Kodak Easy Share 5100. I've gotten great mileage from the ink cartridges and during the year I've had it, I've had to call customer service once and the situation was cleared up with a phone call. Since I print so many photos, it really has saved me a lot of money on ink. I love it.

I just got a new printer this week, and so far I LOVE it! :D I had been using an Epson with cheap (non-Epson) inks as it made printing pictures so affordable. I decided, however, that with the time and money put into my scrapbooks, it makes no sense to use the cheap inks as pictures printed with those tend to fade much faster. I then considered buying genuine Epson ink/paper, but the expense was frightening. So, I started researching.

I ended up with an HP Photosmart B8550. It prints up to at least 13 x 19 inches (some places I've seen say 13 x 44, but I don't know where you'd get that paper -- and I don't need it anyway!). I got the printer for less than $200, WOW! Several reviews I saw were from people who had access to an Epson that printed 13 x 19 as well as the HP Photosmart B8550 and they said that it cost 1/2 as much for supplies for the HP. Of course I have no way of knowing if that is really true, but the prices for paper and ink do seem fairly reasonable as these things go.

So far, the pictures I've printed look really good! (Despite the fact that they only use yellow, cyan, pink, and black cartridges - yes separate cartridge for each color so that is less wasteful than the multi-color cartridge I had for my Epson) Most of the reviews I read also remarked about the incredible color and quality of the prints, so I wasn't too surprised about that.

Most of my scrapbooks use 12 x 12 pages. Though I do fairly traditional scrapbooking (rather than digital pages), my pictures are all digital. I have some software that I use (Fotofusion) to lay out my pages and get them just the way I want them so I know what size/crop I want for printing my pictures and journaling, and how I want to make my titles & place my embellishments, etc. For the book I'm working on right now I had really liked the look of using my own pictures for the backgrounds on a couple of pages. I also wanted a couple of 10 x 10 prints for some other pages. Those are pretty hard to print on a printer that only prints up to 8 1/2 x 11! I was all set to print the pictures in several sections and try to splice them together if I could make it look decent, figuring to go back to the drawing board if it didn't work :(. {I've preferred the look of pictures I print myself - others often come out too dark or light or not cropped the way I want, etc. -- and since I don't currently have a local place that prints larger than 12 x 8 (for $3.00 each), I frankly just didn't want to pay the price when I would have to pay shipping on top of print costs.}

Anyway, though I wouldn't normally print my own backgrounds as I can get wonderful 12 x 12 papers from PW for much less than it costs to print my own, I now can print the occasional 12 x 12 background page or large-size picture as I choose. YAY!!!!

I also really like another feature of the larger size printability that I hadn't thought about when making my purchase. I love the ability to print directly onto my 12 x 12 papers! I often choose to put some journaling directly onto the background paper (and writing all of that by hand is more than I care to do). The only way I'd figured out to do this in the past was to print onto either clear sticker paper or vellum and then stick it to the page. I was never really happy with either choice, though I did it often enough. Today, I just finished printing some journaling on textured 12 x 12 cardstock and it came out beautifully :D -- right where I wanted it on the page, in the exact size I had chosen, in crisp, non-smear lettering (after the ink dried, of course -- it didn't look like it took very long, but I left it alone for a little bit to help make sure!) I figure if it can handle the TEXTURED cardstock, the regular papers should be a cinch!

Anyway, I am VERY HAPPY with my purchase and looking forward to enjoying the fruits of this printer for some time to come!

Congrats! I use an HP Printer and I've been very happy with it for the little bit I use it. Unfortunately, my HP uses the Tri-color and Black cartridges.

Sounds to me like you got a keeper and one that does everything you need.

I'd love to get a widemouth printer one day but I know I'm going to go for HP again ....love that brand ! My current one is six ink tanks so economical when doing pictures.

mine is an old old old HP 920 - I dread it when it packs up cos it's so easy to use and it's been very reliable .................

Hubby bought a Cannon for his work, he said 'you might as well use that now for your scrapping the photo quality is so much better' - so I replaced my trusty HP with it - found it really difficult to use - couldn't align the photo paper properly - switched back to my HP, hence the reason I dread it if my little ole HP packs up.

Better go tell it I love it a bit more often.

I have an HP printer that I'm seriously thinking of replacing. It prints great but I'd like one that every thing. I saw several on HSN that I drooled over. The one I'm thinking on is a Kodak. It was a nice size for the place I have for it, does every thing that I want & best of all the ink cartridges are reasonably priced. It has new engineering that has the chip in the machine not in the ink cartridges which keeps the price of ink down. But I've seen others on HSN that I liked also. I check out both HSN & QVC when it comes to printers because they have people from the different companies explaining each product then go check out the local stores for it. Is that cheating? judi

no way Irishlady - you have to shop around.

QVC in UK was selling The Slice at £149 last week, people on another crafty website said you can get them for £125 elsewhere.....................usually QVC offer 'easy payments' so I thought that is why it was £149 but they weren't offering easypayments on this item last week.

I'm still debating whether to put this item on a credit card?? Would I use it enough. I have a cuttlebug and loads and loads of dies and don't use that as much as I should - still thinking - and shopping round.
