Oh, sorry to confuse you! I've been posting on message boards for so long I sometimes forget not everyone knows the jargon. Yes, it is the NEW catalog! Didn't get to browse through it too much, as I was so tired, but it does have lots of cool new stuff. :D

Yes, there is one there, but it's not the NEW one. I got the summer '09 one. They should be updating that very soon thought.

Thanks for the quick lingo update---
Most of the blogs I follow are not from the US, I should have known:)

As easy as ordering from the USA but shipping is slightly higher over here (do check if merchants ship abroad though). Consider also that your dollar buys you only 67 pence and you can see that it's not worth it. Just a month ago you could nearly buy a pound for one dollar. It was really nice last year to bag bargain from the USA as one of our pound would give us $2.20 and I was getting my monthly cardmaking personal shopper. But I had to stop a few months back as the currency exchange went all over the place so couldn't justify the expense :( !
Apparently the dollar is weakening so it's good news for us, UK crafters. I might be able to restart my personal shopper sub pretty soon ! :D
Edit: nearly forgot to add that when you see prices on UK websites they're always inclusive of VAT (Value Added Tax - currently at 15%) so make sure the retailer takes it off before charging you the goods. But if you are from a EU country, bad luck, the tax stays !

I have been following so many blogs that are from the UK and didn't realize it. Everytime I see something I want I try to buy it and can't because they do not ship to US. My newest thing that I really really want is the Wings and Flowers software program- every site that I have found it on won't ship- but I think I found one, but their price was much higher, not including the shipping. I do have the demo and think I will like the real version much better.

Is this the one ? It's even on sale at the moment (used to be 20 bucks).

They state that the USA price is $14.50 plus 99 pence charge for shipping worldwide (around 75 cents).
Hope that helps ! :p

YES - that's the one- I went to that exact site and never saw this page with US shipping and pricing. Maybe it was because I was tired of looking or something, but THANK YOU -
UGGGGHHHH - I just ordered it and forgot that PayPal still has my old address in the system... There is no forwarding from there either.:mad::mad::mad:

Ouch ! Just write to the seller (not paypal but make sure you change your address from now on) and explain what happened, I'm sure they will understand and will alter the address for you.

I thought Paper Wishes/HOTP had a UK place to order from. It always seemed to me they were even more popular in the UK than here in the states. Will have to look into that and let you know.

They used to but now so many independent retailers are stocking their items so we are spoilt for choice where to get our HOTP fix. Just google the items you need to order adding UK to the search string (as most uk websites end in .co.uk) you'll pull most of the retailers that way. Hope that helps.

I enjoy reading your posts Fabyon, but I'm interested to know seriously what papercrafting in the UK is like. I mean do you have local stores that stock a goodly amount of product or are you limited to mail order? And what about scrapbooking, is that popular over there? And aside from papercrafting, what hobby is the most popular over there? I haven't been across the pond in 20 years now (wow - I really feel old now), can't imagine how things have changed since then.

We have QVC with two hours every Tuesday and also a channel that does only craft called Create & Craft (owned by Ideal World). There's a chain of stores called Hobbicraft that sell a full range of craft and also many independents. Cardmaking is more popular as you may already know Brits send cards for any occasion. Scrapbooking is catching up. We do get craft days on QVC (one is coming on the 3rd May). We have nearly between 12 and 15 magazines about cardmaking, two on scrapbooking, 6 on stitching/embroidery. Stampin Up have started nearly two years ago in the UK too. There was a Craft & Stitch fair just a few week ago and it was packed. I was the only guy there with Vince ! :) There's a 'renaissance' in knitting as the fashion trends now are about boho chic. As I already mentioned there's next to nothing in London but there are craft shops dotted all over the UK in small cities and villages. Whilst a few years ago any sort of craft was seen as 'the blue rinse brigade' hobby younger generations are taking up all sort of crafting. We also get influenced by the Dutch craft industry (AVEC comes to mind) who are very big in decoupage and stitch/embroidery on paper with stencils and templates. We are spoilt really as we get everything from both sides of the pond.

Thanks Fab - I appreciate you taking the time to explain that to me. I don't know why, I have a curiosity as to what other environments are across the world. They've really cut back in my area on crafts on TV. We have Satellite TV, and out of 500 channels, you'd THINK someone would have a crafts network, outside of the occassional Scrapbook days on QVC. If there is one, I'm not aware. I could watch it all day. I love to watch people do their crafts. Card making in the states has really taken off in popularity over the last 3 years, and with digital scrapbooking becoming so popular (not for me however), cardmaking might even be jumping ahead of scrapbooking. I happen to live in an area that's more-or-less a real hub for scrapbooking trends across the country. Many supplies are manufactured here and in Utah (right above us), and we have an overwhelming amount of top designers living here as well that like to teach locally once-in-a-while. So we're fortunate in that regard. Heard tales of many scrapbook stores closing across the country due in part to the frigid economy, not for lack of interest. But thank goodness we have Paper Wishes!!! Thanks so much for sharing that!

I remember something about a bazzil warehouse or something near her--- I want one LOL
I just saw a show on the DYI channel that is called scrapbooking. It was amazing, I think it's on once a week and at a wierd time. There is another called be creative but there is nothing on there I'm intersted in so I don't watch it. I wish there were more though. hmmmm, maybe we should all get together and make the perfest show-

Yep, you're right. Bazzill is in her area. I was soooo close to visiting it when I was in Phoenix too. I was runner-up in a contest, and the 2 gals that placed first and second got to visit it.

Remember the magazine Scrapbook Answers? It was for the Girls Scrapbook Weekend that they did. Another message board that I post on used to be owned by someone who also worked for that magazine. She did a contest and the prize was to attend the convention. There were 3 winners, and I was one of the three. :D

Don't forget we still have our lovely Paperwishe Webisodes.
You can watch Create & Craft (http://www.createandcraft.tv/) on the computer I don't think they block people from outside the UK.
I only watch it for the demo and entertainment value. I never order from them.

Hi Heather - what designers/companies are in this area to name a few and I'm SURE I'm going to leave someone out (it's an age thing I think), Leah Fung, Becky Higgins, Heidi Swapp was here until a year or so ago but I hear she's on her way back - Pam Black who is a designer for Bazzill and also is one of the designers/instructors for CKU, Heidi Lynn Jones Schrieber, the main designer for Bazzill (her page designs are those you most often see in their ads), two major companies are of course Bazzill Basics Paper, and Scrapbook.Com, in Mesa. Many others in our area design for Bazzill but of course are less known. Another company (depending on how long you've been doing this) that has recently moved onto other things was Pages By Design (not to be confused with Page Maps). Leah Fung and Becky Higgins live in the same "hood" a little north of Phoenix. I KNOW I've left somebody out for sure. Heidi Lynn Schrieber is my teacher. I take classes from her once a month on techniques. Great, great fun! The vast majority of designers for Bazzill teach classes regularly at my favorite "evil" store. That's why I'm so friggin' broke all the time.

Thanks Fab for that cool link. I'm going to watch some tomorrow. I had no idea that even existed!
After using my Bind-It-All a couple times - I finally desided to actually watch the video. Didn't get much from that, but I did see a little album that caught my eye (2 of them actually) the envelope book, and the CD book. Has anyone on here tried using the CD's in a book? It is WAY too cute - got to try that. What do you use for adhesive??? And is it a pain centering one of those in a Bind-It-All? It seems like with it's rounded edges, how would you know you're getting in there to have the holes punch evenly and not run off a rounded edge? That's a mystery to me I've got to find an answer for.
So what better place to come for answers than the PWMB??? :D
and by the way - I would LOVE to see Paulette and Sarah do a regular show. Although if that means the end of our webisodes - then forget it.

That's cool that so many are in your area. I wish I could have seen more of Phoenix when I was there, but we never even left the resort until it was time to leave for the airport. I'm trying to remember all the teachers we had at the retreat- Jill Davis, Emily Falconbridge, Ana Cabrera, Margie Romney Aslett, Kim Kwan, Jenni Bowlin to name a few. It was so much fun.

How fortunate you were able to be a part of that. How exciting. I don't know - I think if I were staying at the Biltmore - I wouldn't mind being socked in for a few days =D I love taking classes. I tend to get in a rut, both in color choices and design, and sometimes I don't realize it until I take a step back and look at what I've been doing. Taking a class helps me to step outside my usual. You can always learn from someone else, regardless of your skill level. Taking a class at a convention can be intimidating, and rightly so. They give you no space to work, they try and cram a 2 hour class into 20 minutes, and you walk away with a ton of unfinished projects. So if I take a class, it's based on what techniques I can learn and carry into other things, rather than basing a class just on project alone. I'm so glad you had that opportunity. Here's to many more (clink) ;)

Sonshine you are right about satellite. I have it too and they used to have crafts on the diy
channel but not any more. I don't understand why there is a lot of people out there who do crafts. I don't even have craft shows in my area. I am so glad for PW.

Sonshine, yes, I would agree about the Biltmore! That place was awesome! And the best thing about the classes was they weren't like CKU, in that everyone who attended got to take every class, you didn't have to pick and chose. They rotated every person into every class. But I know what you mean about some classes. Sometimes the ones I go to they cram so much in, and I'm such a perfectionist and don't like to be rushed, that I end up just sitting back to listen and take notes. But at least I am learning, I just finish at home at my own pace.
