It's fun to read everyone's posts and get caught up a bit. I've not been around a lot the last few weeks. My grandmother (who has been like a mother to me while my parents were overseas) was diagnosed with terminal cancer in her bones and I went back to Tennessee to help care for her. I sure wish she lived closer so I could care for her on an on-going basis, but at least I was able to be there long enough to see her home from the hospital (with hospice) and care for her while other arrangements were being set up. It is so hard to see her hurting and to know that her time is short.

She lives in a basement apartment of my parent's home and was so glad to be back in her own space with her kitty to keep her company. We've got her set up in a bed that faces a window where she can see several bird feeders in her yard. We were able to see so many beautiful birds up close and personal through her window - even some gorgeous ruby-throated hummingbirds!

Anyway, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to those of you who left comments on my blog during the last few weeks. I didn't have much time to do anything but check e-mail, but I got notice of your comments that way and your comments during this difficult time really gave my spirit a lift. Thank you so much!

Chery, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I will say prayers for her. I can imagine how happy she is to be home. I can't wait to get back home. As the old saying goes: There's no place like home. Take care. dear friend. Judi

Hi Cheryl. sorry to hear about your grandmother but it seems that things are nice and peaceful for her. I haven't been on here but briefly because my husband just had open heart surgery 3 weeks ago. Life really stops in circumstances like this. I hope you have wonderful moments to remember. Are you still in Tn? That's where I live. What part were you in?

Robin, Sorry to hear about your husband's surgery. I agree. Things like that really take over one's life. I'm not in Tennessee at the moment (that's where my parents & grandmother are), but when I go back to visit it's usually in the Chattanooga area - sometimes Nashville. Where abouts are you?

I am in North east tn near Johnson city and bristol. My son lives in Nashville now so I hope to be there more as we are having a new grandbaby in Nov. Hope things are going well with your family. my husband started on cardio rehab today so it is going better! It just takes a long time to get well and I have to drive him everywhere for a couple more weeks with him sitting in back, an excellent position to be a complete backseat driver non-stop! LOL!

oh wow, open heart surgery - that's a biggie - but glad he's on the mend and hope you don't have to ferry him around much longer!
