View Full Version : Christmas Book Project
Anyone interested in doing another scrapbook project like we did with Frosty the Snowman and Twas the Night Before Christmas?
We had some suggestions for new themes, am sure there are others that could be done too...
The 12 Days of Christmas
Up on the Rooftop
OK - we've had 38 views but no responses, so the Swaps team will drop this idea for this year!

I was meaning to ask...how did this work last year? I wasn't a part of it so I don't know.

I treasure my Frosty book and my fat page book as well. I was just going through them as I pull more XMAS crafting items out.
The only thing I can say is it was a LOT of work to make 8 (I think) copies of the page. Of course, Sam did a TON of work putting them all together and doing several pages when others dropped out.
I'm up for it! I'd like it better if they were smaller groups, but however it works! The 12 Days of Christmas would be great (if everyone did 2 pages?). The rooftop one is great too - I used to be able to sign the whole song along with my "little guy" who couldn't talk. He's now 6' 3" and never shuts up! LOL

I would like to know how it works. I might be interested too.
Sorry, I should have explained it better!
Last time we did "Frosty the Snowman" and "Twas the Night Before Christmas". For each, a piece of the story was assigned to each participant, who had to make a scrapbook page which included the wording of their section plus the layout based on it. Each participant had to make as many multiples of the page as there were people in the swap. Everyone mailed their pages to me and I assembled and sent them back out.
This REQUIRES that everyone who signs up follows thru and makes the required number of pages AND sends them ON TIME. Last time around, we had one person who signed up for both books and then we never heard from her again...nor did she send her pages. I had to scramble to make some to fill in the gap that left...which of course we do NOT want to repeat!
You can check out the finished Frosty (http://forum.paperwishes.com/album.php?albumid=281) and Twas the Night (http://forum.paperwishes.com/album.php?albumid=284)albums by clicking on the links.
Since appears some of you did not see the original post we'll leave this open for a while longer then.
AND of course, the 'songs' or 'stories' are not decided - we are still open to suggestions for others which lend themselves to this kind of thing...

Jen, last time we did 8 1/2 by 11. I had never scrapped in that size, but it was fine and given the multiples quicker to complete.
Michelle, you would do fine. I think Nyoka said the same thing last time - check out the books and see the beautiful work she did!

I want to do it but is it a page that has to have places left for pictures? Is the layout anything you want as long as it goes with your words?
Robin, the easiest way for you to understand the project I think is to check out the album links above for the ones the board members did year before last...I think once you see the pages your questions will be answered! ...It's a scrapbook of the VERSE, not intended for pics to be added later like a 'normal' l/o.

Thanks that's what i thought. Do we need to send to swaps if we want to do it or are we still deciding.thanks!
Looks like still deciding so will leave this open before posting an actual call for signups.
Is anyone else interested in doing this?
Does anyone else have any other suggestions for themes/songs/poems to use?

Hi. I would love to do it again! 8.5x11 is a good size unless anyone wants to go to 8x8. I'm not good at 12x12 and that size is harder to mail. If there aren't many maybe we can do a small group with a shorter song!

I think an 8X8 would be great!! Although I will participate if its an 8 1/2 X 11..
Can't think of any other Christmas story or song that would be good, but I will keep pondering it...
God bless

I love both books we created last time-so do my grandchildren!!! Sign me up, please! Please send an e-mail when a decision is made so I don't miss it.
The 8 1/2 x 11 size is perfect because it fits the notebooks so well.
