Help!! I think I have a problem. The following are the symptoms I've been experiencing:
1. Instead of falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow (which is the norm for me), I find myself laying in bed planning scrapbook layouts -- none of which I can remember very clearly the next morning.
2. When I finally do sleep, I dream of scrapbooking.
3. I find myself analyzing other people's clothes looking for interesting color combinations for my lo's.
4. I'm not interested in working, cleaning house, cooking, helping with homework, etc -- just scrapping.
5. The total cost of my current wish list exceeds the gross domestic product of many third world countries. (Please don't tell my husband :p)
6. It's 12:35 am US Central Time. My alarm is set to go off in less than 6 hours, and here I am logged on to this mb. (Did I mention that I'm the only one currently logged on?)
I think -- I just might be --a scrap addict!!
Whew!!! There I've said it, and now I feel much better.
No, seriously, I haven't scrapped much in the last year or so. I had just started working on my Disney pics from last years vacation when I stumbled upon this mb. You guys along with my new baby bug are helping cause -- well lets just say -- this obsession. To make matters worse, I've decided to try card making (another complication I blame squarely on all you creative people). The order containing all my new card making goodies has shipped from pw and should be arriving on my doorstep on Friday.
Is there any hope for me? I'm pretty sure I don't want to change -- I just need to know that there are others out there like me. So come on. Fess up. Who else is addicted?

Oh my gosh - you have it TOO???? I was hoping I wasn't the only one. And - I've just taken up card making myself - because of all these creative cardmakers on here. And - of course because PW's has the best darn card kits anywhere. What kit did you order? I ordered the ultimate card makers something-or-other. Get this - - the day it arrived (Monday ), my husband went to the store for about 15-20 minutes. Right after he left, the doorbell rang and it was the mailman with my NEW PW CARDMARKERS KIT. How blessed am I? I quickly stashed it in my scrappin' room before he got home. I just didn't need to hear him say "how much paper do you NEED"? (I don't think need is the operative word here.) He just thinks I'm a scrapbook addict. But I happen to know - I'm a hoarder of the worst sort.
I too have a hard time getting to sleep sometimes, always thinking up layouts and new minibooks I would love to try. Then I can't sleep so I turn the light back on and pickup up a PW catalog, fall asleep with my face in it, turn the light off only to think of even more stuff because of what I was just looking at! I'm as hopeless as you I'm afraid. Now a newbie at cardmaking on top of scrapping! And now the MB is addictive, too.

I'm thinking of locking myself in my bedroom with my stash, tools, a case of cokes and a couple of packages of Hostess Cupcakes. Maybe if I stay in there for a few days straight, I'll get back to "normal". ;)
What great timing on your card pack!!! My husband's pretty good about my addiction. In fact, he's been know to feed it occasionally, but I too hide a lot of the stuff I buy. Like you said it's just easier than answering questions.
I didn't get a kit. I don't even see the one you ordered. I just bought a set of blank cards, the 2 stamps sets that were featured on last week's webisode (I haven't stamped much, so I "needed" to pick those up), and some dazzles. I wanted to make sure it was something I was going to keep up before I spent too much. After you have a chance to play with your kit, let me know what you think. I just may have to add it to my ever-growing wish list.
It's good to know I'm not all alone.:)

I had this for many months when I first started scrapping..............I must admit that I'm not as bad these days but every bit of packaging before throwing away - I cut bits off - to use on LO's etc - and I still look at people and think 'oh, that material is lovely, could use that on a LO' etc.
Exciting isn't it !

Yeap very chronic case of scrapbookitis, unfortunately there is no known cure for it. Although some people swear that by buying more stash from paperwishes, it eases the symptoms ! LOLOLOL

Sounds like you are in the right place though! :D I think we all suffer from the same thing! I tell you, I have never been so hooked for so long on any other hobby. It just about consumes my whole life. Then darn, I have to drop everything and go to work!

Oh I agree Heather that work and life gets in the way of my scrapping. I had planned scrapping all day today - unfortunatley I forgot the dog needs walking since I got back from dropping DS - the day has rushed away with me and now I have to go fetch DS back - I might get to scrap tonight - I HOPE ! back at work tomorrow too :(

It's chronic. You might have a remission here and there, but once it's in your system, it doesn't let go. It might settle on another form, such as cardmaking or altering, but when you have it, just be assured that it isn't your fault. This is one addiction that should be fed and nurtured!

I wish I could think of something other than paper---
I am making a shaped scrapbook right now and wow, it's a lot of work. I am almost done with the structure but then I have to embellish!
Sorta off subject, but Ellen Degeneres is going to be an Aunt- does anyone know the specifics? Boy, girl, who, etc? My grandpa (who is VERY old fashioned) LOVES her. He said that he knows "how she is" but doesn't care because she makes him laugh. You have to understand my grandpa to understand how a great deal that is. He asked if I would make cards and things for her so I have been and now I need to make one for her becoming an aunt. I am making it my goal to get something on air with her for my grandpa as he is very ill and this would just make him smile.

Angela, that is SO sweet - I admire your obvious love for your grandpa. Sorry, I can't help you out on the statistics of boy or girl. But I can identify with your blood, sweat and (hopefully not) tears on your shaped album. Yep - they are a lot of work. I'm currently working on the baby boy album alternative to my Sugar and Spice album. What throws me into a tailspin is remembering that I can't use anything that's going to go through the paper onto the other side. And that's a BIG deal to someone like me that's brad happy, ribbon crazy and hand stitching nuts. Or do it the way you do cards - it's a separate piece of paper, embellished and then adhered down. It just gets hard for me sometimes to alter what comes naturally I guess. I hope your grandpa gets better to enjoy many many more Ellen shows, and laughs.;)

I also have scrapbookitis and a raging case of cardmakingitis, and hope I never recover! I'm now on a quest to own every stamp ever made. I track all my orders online, so I can get home before my husband, and put the new stuff with my other supplies, so it looks like it was there all the time. :) He is addicted to Lowe's and buying tools, so I don't feel so bad about my addiction. It's the best stress reliever I've ever found, AND it's brought all of us addicts together on this MB! :D

I didn't get a kit. I don't even see the one you ordered.
The card kit I ordered is:
BP759127
I love it - and the cute little divided case the hardware came in is going to come in real handy, too. But you're off to a flying start. I can identify totally too with the WISH LIST. If I got everything on my wish list - I'd have to (politely) tell my DH to move out just to make room :D
ONe thing you didn't mention that's a real bugger for me (since I don't have caller ID) : YOu set aside time to play with your paper, you diligently rush to get through all your chores just to have some playtime. You get all set up, the frggin' PHONE RINGS and it's a dear friend on the other line. You try not to let your aggitation show - but you know it obviously MUST be showing or halfway through the conversation they wouldn't have asked "is this a good time"?

I totally understand. I don't enjoy talking on the phone and most of my friends know that. We'll email, online chat, text, or meet for lunch, but my mother is a different story. She keeps my nephew who is almost 2 while my sister works. She'll call just wanting to speak to someone who can string more than 3 words together. Unfortunately for her, when I'm in the middle of a project, that person is not me. The good thing is she's knows me and will just ask me to call her back when I can talk. I don't have to worry about that today. Her obsession is gardening & its a beautiful day here in Oklahoma with sunny skies and warm temps. I know she'll be out digging in the dirt. Now if I can just stay off of here and get those pesky chores done -- then I'm off to play.
BTW -- thanks for the card kit number. I'll check it out.

What addicted, no way, we do not need an intervention. I know this is perfectly normal!Isn't this how everyone else lives?
I can't walk into the house after being gone (or just going to the ladies room) that I don't go directly into the craft studio, telling myself just one more thing I can glue down or wait I'll check to see if the glue is dry, and by the way while I'm here I need to check the MB.
I love it!

Such a dilemma- I think we all have. My husband hates a messy house so I made Fridays my day to not do a card (used to be Mondays but this way it will be nice for the weekend when he's off). It's so hard, but it also gives me an excuse not to do anything else all week EXCEPT my cards.

Some of my manifestions of the disease:
Noticing that the faux marble pattern of a restaurant table would make a great-looking patterned paper!
Finding paper trimmings on the bathroom floor.
Seeing that it's suppertime and saying to myself that I'll just glue this paper to the card to dry while I fix supper, and then finding that an hour has passed because I can't stop at just one card!
Going to the PWMB when I can't sleep.

STAMPS...I love them...So far I have 76  and the bad thing about it that in 3 years I have never even used some of them.I just keep buying them.I get on e-bay and get mesmerized  by all the pretty stamps floating around.I have been on the hunt for a 2 inch oak leaf stamp and found it just yesterday on e-bay.Now I can quit looking.I know what you mean about our hubbies.Mine says"Don't you think you have enough stamps yet?" I just have a dumb  look on my face and have to explain how I need this one to do this and this one to go with that thing and...I think you get the idea. But,I do love to stamp shop.A little hint...If you see a few you want to buy from the same seller ask for a small discount...They are usually willing to give you a freebee or a few $$ off your purchase.Works for me.On my last deal I wanted 5 stamps.I asked for a deal and she said,"Buy 3 get 2 free."I said yes!!! And I saved about $6.~Sandra~ :)

It is the norm, so I keep telling myself, to enjoy something so much that the housework goes to the bottom of the list. Fortunately I have a fantastic DH who does the housework for me (and cooks the odd meal when I forget) when he is not working in the garden lol. When we both forget to cook we get a takeaway. Morning, This is a great place to be with an addiction like scrapbooking/cardmaking. So many others are here with the same addiction. I'm into card making. Yesterday I made 2 concertina card books. They came out rather nicely if I do say so myself. If I had a camera that actually worked, I'd share pictures of them. Both are for dads. I'll say a prayer for your grandpa's recovery. I love PW's card making kits. They contain loads of things for your cards. I've found that I like buying the kits so that I have matching card art. Then all I have to get is flowers, ribbons or brads. They're usually offered right along with the kits. Once you start making cards, you wont be able to stop because its so much fun and very relaxing. Have a great day. Judi

Yeah Judi - I can see getting into cardmaking is addictive. After gathering 4 years worth of stash for scrapbooking, I can't resist the urge to try stamping and using the MCPT method of colored pencils and mineral spirits blending. So, I ordered my first couple stamps on Friday, I got my 40% off anything not on sale at Hobby Lobby, and I'm off to get my Prisma pencils TODAY!!! yipee. I love learning new things, and this method really appealed to me. I can hardly wait to give it a go.

I can see THAT - I already want the entire collection of House Mouse stamps, the little rabbits and the bears - - I figured if I only bought one once a month - I wouldn't have enough years to collect them all. Got to step that collecting up a bit. AND find a good $ source. But at least I got hooked on stamps that weren't terribly expensive to begin with.

You can go online to digital stamp sites and buy the digital image, download it to your computer, and print it out in any size you want, as many times as you want. Once you download it, it's your's. You color it just as you would an image you had hand stamped. They usually run from .99 to 2.99, so you can see how you'd save on ink and the price of stamps. I'll be back in a bit with some links for you to check out. :)

For most of my life, when asked what was my hobby, I always answered reading, which didn't seem to be much of a hobby to those who asked. But a couple of years ago I began to scrapbook and now I am completely addicted. There's isn't a day that goes by that I don't do something related to this hobby, whether it's just checking websites featuring cards and layouts or working on a page or card. I finally realized my addiction was becoming a bit problematic when I burned dinner a few weeks ago LOL. I just thought I had enough time to put one more thing on that page I was working on, next thing I knew the saucy chicken I was making was saucy no more :(. So as hard as it is to control this addiction, now I make sure not to try to cook and scrap at the same time :).

Clothes shopping interests me, but usually when I see a pattern on fabric I want to scan for a background. I'm also not above buying a stack of remnants (I think they're calling them "fat quarters") and cutting them up to put on my pages. I haven't done that with new clothes. Not yet!

I'd rather shop for scrapbooking than for clothes. At least I don't have to try on the paper or worry about whether it will fit exactly the same way once I buy it and have it at home. I don't know why, but for some reason I often try clothes on at the store, like the way it fits at the store, but once I take it home it doesn't fit the same way anymore. It's like it shape-shifts inside the bag from the store to the house lol!

I agree with you completely. When I have to shop for clothes now I buy and take home and try it on then if I don't like it then I set it aside until I can take it back. I never have to take scrapbooking or cardmaking items back. They always fit just right. LOL

Fab - what a pity we don't live closer, and all the others on this thread. WHAT a fantastic crafting day we could ALL have eh.
I too, thoroughly enjoy my crafting and creating and whatever I'm up to in my craft room - having said that sometimes I feel that it's a lonely kinda hobby.
I have never been to a crop - but thinking of starting one up. Only for me and two other friends and a possibility of my friends friend whom I don't know but she likes to make cards.
My husband has a shop and on Sundays we are open but it's usually very quuiet - hubby said 'why don'#t you get together with your friends at the back of the shop for a couple of hours one sunday a month'? I think I might just do that - but we shall see how I am for time.
