I'm happy to report that the information in that link is incorrect. As of Monday evening at 7:40 Pacific Time - there have been ZERO DEATHS in the US from this most recent outbreak of the flu.
However I AM rather upset that Napolitano (embarrased to say was our former Governor) has not felt it serious enough to close the border between US and Mexico. Sorry if I offend anyone - not meant to. Just a little paranoid living THAT close to a pandemic situation, and she doesn't seem to think it's "serious" enough to act upon it. But then - apparently some air heads in D.C. didn't think it was necessary to inform the citizens of NYC of a "photo op" (?) when they flew an Air Force One look-alike jumbo jet skimming skyscrapers with fighter jets in hot pursuit. So - - perhaps I'm not surprised afterall at her apparent lack of concern over this deadly flu.
Sorry - I had to vent.

No problem vent away but if you really believe what the media and the goverment are telling you is the truth:p you're going to have a rude awakening !
Whenever I watch the news now everything they say is so generic it might as well be fiction. All the news start with 'apparently', 'allegedly' so I usually don't bother watching BBC or Skynews anymore.
But let's use some information to our own advantage and stop being worried from this culture of fear our governments are trying to impose, since terrorism is not being effective anymore now they're going for a pandemic. You should see the headlines over here, you would have thought the plague has landed, when you read between the lines you can see all this is done to drum up pharmaceutical sale....I wish I had shares ! ;)
As for Napolitano you're not alone, Europe is not doing anything about it, people are coming in and out like nothing is happening.
Anyway it's nice to have an alternative view on things and make your mind up, i do like that website but like to draw my own conclusion.
So go Sonshine vent way shaking your fist in the air ! :D

No worries, Fab. I don't listen to main stream media. I watch Fox news that tell the "other" side of the story. Put the two together and you just might come near the truth. Yep - I shake my fist for sure. Depending on what news channel you watch here - some portray this as a pandemic, others say don't get in a panic, the reported incidents in the US have them completely recovered, blah, blah, blah. YOu know what? I think it's a time you just have to go with your gut feelings anymore. I'm not a mistrustful person, nor am I a naive person. I like to hear both sides of the story, and then whatever makes the most sense to you - go for it I guess. I just wish our news media would get back to reporting and investigating the truth, and not base what they publish on manipulation or what sells. We need to get back to the truth in reporting once again. Agreed? So believe me Fab. I HEAR what you're saying. Glad to know there's someone else out there that's not believing everything you read or hear. Thanks for understanding.

Yea! Another Fox News viewer! You get both sides and make up your own mind. Fab, is Skynews a sister station to Fox?

Another Fox News viewer here as well. I'll make up my own mind on issues and not follow the pack, thank you very much:D
I'm concerned about the swince flu as I'm sure everyone is, Fabyon thank you for posting about this. I definitely will do anything I can to keep my family safe and healthy. I hope it doesn't turn into a pandemic. I've "heard" that there is no vaccine for it "yet" but that they are "working" on it and it could take months.
Sorry for the quotes, that's just my way of saying - Ok, I hear what your saying but I'm only half on the fence of believing that. LOL!:)
I hope I didn't offend anyone with my post, that's not my intent at all. :)

I don't watch news at all. I have even been cutting out the TV entirely, unless it's a show that makes me smile. I have been reading motivational books from the early 1900's and it's helped me and my family to be more happy and get more from life. Why watch the news? It's just things that bring you down and if it's important enough, I'll hear about it somewhere LOL (Like on this message board.)

Vince calls it the misinformation news channel ! I tend to watch CNN, TV5 (French, Swish and Belgian news). SkyNews is a bit too right wing as some presenters are very condescending in their reports but yes, putting all these news channel together and you get a 'picture'. I totally agree with you ladies, Sonshine, Carzforyou, Love2scrap and Kasiahbug !

I'm another Fox News viewer. I also agree with Sonshine about some of our politicians in DC. I have to wonder if they ever really think about things logically. The photo op in NYC was just stupid. I feel bad for those working in the financial district. That had to be so frightening. The swine flu is also scary. My youngest daughter has asthma, so we have to be extra careful with any kind of respiratory infection.

Yep - WHAT were they thinking? It was stupid - and totally insensitive. I sympathized with the mayor of NYC. He was more than a little MIFFED by it all. Then I like how they interview the guy responsible for it (seen only on FOX that I know of - not surprising), and he's got his hands up in the air like 'what's the big deal - I'm sorry'.
And yes, I too have asthma, so I get PARANOID when people get near me that just have a simple cold - because nothing is ever simple when you have asthma.

That sounds like me. We also don't get the newspaper, and I don't listen to the radio either. Life can be depressing enough without listening to more. I want to be happy, not listen to all the depressing stuff.

I also have asthma and seasonal allergies are horrible. I never get just a cold it's always bronchitis. Yup, the news is very depressing. They need to balance it out. Tell to sad stories, then finish with two happy stories. I won't even mention the one I heard yesterday about a little Kindergartener.

Just heard a little 23-month-old died in Texas of the flu. U.S. first death. However - I hear now there is controversy surrounding this, believing they may have been visiting here from Mexico. How tragic. A little life snuffed out before it ever really began. God, hear our prayers, please?

I heard about that, too.
My husband works in CT and he just found out through a co-worker (their child goes to this school) that a teacher there has it and they shut the school down. Scary.

is CT > Connecticut ? I have a very good friend of mine living there, if you could tell me the area, please, I would warn her as she has two little girls. :(

There are a bunch over here a few miles away that are suspected, waiting for the results today. Luckily my daughter is home-schooled and she won't be bringing it home to her baby brother-or us for that matter. For some reason I do not catch things that are viral. Haven't had a cold in 20+ years and no flu, but I do carry the infections and spread them.

Fabyon, yes CT is Connecticut. I'm not sure of the town, though.

I'm going to the dr for my regular checkup Friday, and I'm going to ask if there is anything specific I need to do for precautions, as I am diabetic. Other than using common sense, that is. I'll keep you posted as to what he says.

Yes - please do - there's so much talk about Tamaflu, don't know if I should ask for some or not. One of my scrappin' pals called to cancel for tonight - she's babysitting her niece who is recovering from the flu. BUT don't know if it was an extremely mild case of the nasty flu, or just the normal flu that usually hits out here at this time of year. Apparently she was never sick enough to go to the doctor, so it makes me wonder.

Ok, I asked my dr this morning, and he said to basically use common sense. He said it's just like any other type of influenza and to just wash your hands, sneeze and/or cough into your arm - not your hand, stuff like that. I kind of thought that's what he'd say, but reassuring to actually hear it.

I think if people would not go to work when they are sick, not send their kids to school if they are sick, and certainly don't go out in public when you are sick, it would help keep the virus to a minimum.

There are now quite a few cases here in our area, but to be honest, I don't see the aftermath of it. I suppose it's because I'm so secluded in my house.

Colloidal silver is a good thing to have around the house, it's a natural bug killer. You can buy it form Natural Health shops. Make sure the bottle/container can't let the light as the liquid is light sensitive.
