Hello everyone,
I thought I would start our thead for our Monday posts....so what has been happening over the week-end. Anyone have any progress on crafting and scrappin'?

Well, for me, everything I planned went down the drain! My aunt took a turn for the worse...she has been in a nursing home and things went bad fast. So Mom (It's mom sis) and I have been sitting by the phone for the last 3 days to hear how she is doing. My aunt is in another state with her brother. Mom is so broken hearted! Saving grace, my aunt has her life in order with our Lord and that makes us all feel better. The most puzzling thing is that NO ONE can find out what is wrong with her--she is fading so fast. All we can do is pray and put her in the Lord's hands.

No class for me today--I canceled because of bad weather (flood watches) and early school dismissal.

Hope your weekend was productive.

Sorry to hear your aunt is doing so poorly. But glad to hear she knows the Lord. Will be praying for you all!

For such a short time I spent working on my stuff, I got quite a bit done. I finished up every single card in one of my monthly kits. Now I just need to take pics of them to post.

Sorry Oldma to hear...................I hope she improves? Very sad time for you.

Heather - can't wait to see what you've done.

Monday again already, I forgot it's monday as I'm usually at work, it's a Bank Holiday over here so not in until tomorrow, makes it better to have a 3 day week - and my coworker isn't in this week - you may recall she gives me a very hard time.

So it should, all in all, be a bit of a better week. I hope so anyway.

I do have a reflexology treatment at 7 pm tho - and just cooking dinner - it's 3 pm here.

Sending good vibes to you all.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt. I hope she improves.

The only scrapping that I got done this weekend was to pick out the paper, stamp the title and cute out the letters. Oh! And pick out the pictures. Now, just to put it all together. It's a two page layout and I'm not typically good at those.

Oldma, I so sorry to hear about your aunt. My prayers are with her and your family. I've had a week much like yours. One of my cousins passed away this week. He was a Christian too, so I know he's in a better place and that we don't have to say good-bye forever. Its still tough and my heart aches for his wife, kids, and grandkids. In addition, we had so much rain last week, my garage flooded. The rain has stopped (for now) and I've spent all morning moving boxes out of my living room and family room back to the garage. I didn't get much time for scrapping this weekend. I made a card (my first ever) and one layout for a NSD challenge on another mb, and worked on a couple of tag books for Mothers Day.

Oldma, I hope both of our weeks our better. God bless.

I love to do just one pagers. I mostly scrapbook "Moments" and save the "Events" for the two page layouts. Most of my class kits are two-page layouts tho and it really keeps your mind busy coming up with affordable kits with that much paper and "do-das" for the pages.

I will be praying for you and your aunt too . . . keep us informed.

I did not get to do anything to feed my paper addiction this weekend, but hey, friday is just around the corner again right?

We have a women's ministry the first Saturday of every month, then a 1st Sunday Potluck every month at Church, so was busy with all of that, but like I said, Friday is coming!

I'll be saying a prayer for you and your aunt also. Here's a hug!

I didn't get much done on my cards this weekend either. My arm was bothering me yesterday. It must have been from wrangling with the cat for my ribbon he was chewing on!

I've heard cat wrangling can be dangerous.

Actually, it was easier to get the ribbon away from the cat than to give him his medicine! I hate to resort to being sneaky but that's the only way I can get it down him.

A lot of my time is spent on my computer looking at and getting ideas from various scrapbooking sites - does that count as scrapbooking? I have to get my inspriration from somewhere don't I.

Tee hee.

Oldma, so sorry to hear about your aunt. I've prayed for her and your family before typing this. Strange, they can't figure out what's wrong, isn't it?

We spent Sat., Sun., and part of this morning at the cabin. VERY relaxing time. Took about 50 pounds of mags with and a bunch of sticky notes. Colored in 3 images (I say images, because some are from PcCrafters software rather than stamps, and some are from my painting books), and I had a total blast with those. Just when I thought I had every color I would ever need...I started a list of colors I want to get. Isn't that always the way? I didn't get to scrap anything at all. It was more of a time away from papers to get inspiration - just like Canstopstamping said. Actually, I hate it when I do that and I still have something left to finish. Instead of coming away inspired and ready to tackle something new - I'm OVER inspired and don't know where to start. I've also been UNHOOKED from any news for 3 days, so where we still a country? And where are y'all getting so much rain from? We had SUCH a good time target shooting, riding our ATV's in the woods (eating a lot of DUST), and this morning was the crown jewel - woke up about 5:00 this morning (normal for me) went to let the fur kids out the back fenced area, and there about 20 feet away from was the biggest bull elk I think I have ever seen. We both kind of froze just staring at each other. And of course - my CAMERA was out of reach. If you've ever had the joy of seeing these magnificent animals fairly close up, you can appreciate their immense size. He stayed for a long time, until my little Cairn terrier got wind of him. That was the end of that. So now it's so HARD to get home and have to start work right away. Ho hum - but it's got to get done. So nothing to post but a few pages I got done during this past week, and perhaps a picture or two I colored in. But - work comes first :( so it will have to wait for scanning 'til maybe tomorrow. I missed you all - looks like a lot has been going on according to all the email message threads I got while I was gone.

Keep us posted Oldma on your aunt.

Sonshine, sounds like even though you didn't get any scrapping done you had quite a nice weekend. Too bad you didn't have your camera handy when the elk was there tho. That would have been an awesome pic!

Doncha just hate it when the camera isn't where it's supposed to be (in your hands) when it's supposed to be?!?!
Glad you had fun. I miss doing the outdoor stuff, but I'm not sure I can stay away from my computer that long LOL:D

BULL ELK! My hubby would have--I really don't know what he would have done! His biggest joy is going deer hunting, but an elk--oh wow he would have probably ran it down and tackled it---he's a pretty big guy! :D I know they grow huge! I would have done just what you did---stare. Gorgeous animals.

My sympathy on the death of your cousin, Sheila, and what difficult news about your aunt, Oldma. What a blessing that both know The Lord.

IMO anything "scrapbook-related" counts as scrapbooking. I see creativity as a process and not merely an end product and all the research that goes into it influences the finished product.

HA HA HA - funny you should mention that - - I found myself wandering around at times not knowing what to do with myself without a computer. And we're SO isolated up there we don't even get tv reception. Which is actually a VERY good thing. Unplugging from society is good sometimes, but I never really realize how much I need to do that until I'm faced with it. I had some real withdrawals for sure. I don't know what I'll do when we go up there for 10 days the end of May.

Oldma, I had a brief vision of your dh trying to tackle that elk - I have to tell you, it wasn't a pretty sight. :D

About october last year - I suddenly felt so enclosed and tired............I am on another site which is a big scrapping site in UK - I felt as if I was on it 24/7 - I finally decided to pull back, I deleted all the scrapping stuff that I was showing - cleared my gallery, didn't respond to people, didn't post threads etc..................the first few days I was in complete withdrawal - after a week I suddenly realised that it was good to feel the way I did.

I only go on once a day now - likewise on this site - and another couple of sites. I scrap when I feel like it - and I feel so much happier.

Arrrggghhh - the pages in this baby book grow as it gets towards the center of the book - so I had to scan them in halves and do a photomerge in Photoshop. Did I mention before how much I hate scanning? Anyway - trust that all the shadows, the spots (probably my breakfast I spilled on the scanner glass), and one in particular looks like a really strange bunch of blue dots (mini brads) that are not in any clearcut shape. But in real life, they DO form a nice circle - did i meantion how much I hate to scan  ? These pages are looking quite the nasty on my scanner - my camera is still unpacked somewhere so these will have to suffice. The little(?) tree house is from an AccuCut Die - I cut it out three times with three different papers. The grass - - WHERE ARE THOSE GRASS BRADS someone requested from PW? I had to cut mine out by hand. :D

Hi ya all.

I've just been going through my albums, ripping old stuff up - YES, I am that ruthless. Attaching a LO I did 12 months ago - of my dog, the leaves on the LO are real leaves, I painted them with PVA glue both sides before attaching to the LO, and so far they have stood the test of time. I don't think I ought to risk getting the LO out the page protector tho incase they disintergrate.

AND just been experimenting with triple embossing to make 'faux metal' - and stamping into it - this was my first attempt, hasn't come out too good, so will have another go tomorrow night, especially as I need to go buy a new clear embossing ink pad.

Hi ya all.

Now first of all Cantstopstampin, let's get this right... it's not ' Hi ya all ' - if you want to speak southern states (and Texas) it's: Hi y'all :D :D:D

I LOVE your leaf. You know what's coming next, don't you? You'll have to SHARE step-by-step how you did that. You can't leave us hangin' like that. That would be beautiful on a LO. You say it didn't go like you wanted it to, and I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like, but it sure looks gorgeous to me.

I don't think I ought to risk getting the LO out the page protector tho incase they disintergrate. You are too funny. Did you dry the leaves first? That sounds like a fun thing to do. Your dogger is SO sweet. I really like how you did the frames around the pictures, was that with a stamp, or did you free-hand paint? I like doing that. ONe of the quickets and easiest frames I've ever made was with a piece of card stock and paint. I use a scrap of heavy cardstock, lay a puddle of paint out on a foam plate, and drag the straight edge of the card stock through the paint. Sometimes I'll make edges on my mini alumb oages that way, too.

We'll be waiting for your instructions on the leaf embossing. Right y'all? :D

tee hee - I'm a Brummie (Birmingham England) and our accent is AWFUL.

Sonshine, It's SO EASY mate ( Birmingham again).

Piece of card - inked all over with clear embossing ink pad - sprinkled with embossing powder (I used antique gold) - heat emboss. repeat after it had cooled, and repeat again after it cooled a 3rd time.

Repeat the inking the card bit - and the embossing powder bit and then ink the stamp you are going to press into the embossing powder so it doesn't stick. heat emboss the card for a 4th time - and whilst still very hot press your stamp (gently does it) but firmly into the embossing, leave stamp in place - when completely cooled removed the stamp.

need to get another stamp pad tomorrow as mine is so dry - will have another go tomorrow night.

Look up on You Tube - 'triple embossing' - 'Faux Metal Embossing' you'll find a video tutorial or two, or three,or four, or ...........................

goodnight it's 12 midnight.

Your accent can't be any worse than mine, love. This technique sounds fabulous - I simply must try it. It sounds and looks as though a good outline stamp, one less detailed would work better for this technique than the ones I have. Thank you SO much for passing this info along! Faux Metal Embossing is a good name for it, because it does look like metal. How very cool. Thank you!
