Just got back from my monthly technique class where we get to try out all the latest stuff out there BEFORE we buy (or not) - and this month we got to try out Heidi Swapp's new "INVISIBLE CHIPBOARD". This stuff is absolutely awesome. I hope PW starts to carry it. It comes on a 12x12" sheet, at first glance it looks like just a blank sheet of white chipboard until you look closely, and there's embossed designs on it. The idea is to use pigment ink (Stazon won't work for this technique), rub your ink pad all over it, and then wipe it off with a paper towel. The ink stays only on the unembossed areas and serves as a background color, allowing the embossed design to come to the surface. Then we cut it into a shape. Super fun. When I first saw it, I thought it was printed paper. I just HAD to get some :D

Oh wow! That looks and sounds super cool! Is it as thick as regular chipboard? Can it be cut easily with scissors, or do you need a die cut machine? Yes, PW needs to carry this!

It looks like a professional embellishment with the added bonus that you can pick the color you want!

That was part of a 12x12 SB layout rather than a card - but the Invisible Chipboard is the thickness of regular chipboard, and I would think it would have to be cut with a die cut. I haven't tried it in my Cuttlebug or sizzix, but I'll have to give it a try this morning and let you know about that. It can be cut on your Cricut with a Deep Cutting Blade and repeated cuts. Since we were in class, I cut the heart using an AccuCut. One tip I'd like to share though - if you're cutting out a shape, ink FIRST before you cut - that way your ink is applied evenly. I forgot to ask her about the chalk inks, but she specifically mentioned Ranger inks work really well. We were able to purchase the sheets separately, but I believe there are 3 sheets in a package for $3.99 - so the price is pretty cool, too. LOVE this stuff. Wouldn't Letters look cool cut from this??? :D

That's what I was afraid of. I have a QK and a Slice, so don't know how well it would work on those. But the price does seem pretty reasonable.

That's what I love about the Cuttlebug - it will use all of the dies from all manufacturers and cuts like butter through chipboard, felt, fabric, acrylic, thin metal. All your QK dies work great. Use one of M's or Hobby's 40% off coupons and pick it up for $25 it's a great little tool to have.

This new product is super-cool! I hope PW starts to carry it. Can't wait to try it, and I love, love, love the idea of cutting letters out of it. TFS!
