My son has requested a baseball themed card for his birthday in a couple of weeks. I was looking at some of Angela's cards and thought it would be cool to put a baseball diecut on the front with sewn-on stitches. My question is do you sew directly on the card front and cover the front inside panel, or do you finish your sewing and then glue your cardstock onto the front of the card, or does it matter?

I would finish sewing and add to the card front, maybe using foam pads or foam tape to raise it and give the card dimension. Hope this helps.

I would do the sewing first and then attach it to my card, as Trish suggests.

Or you could use a fine point pen and do faux stitching.

Now that's my kind of stitching! :D

I create my card base first, and leave it to the side. Everything else is layered in pieces and sewed seperate and then taped (ATG) on in layers at the very end. I love sewing on my cards and try to do it on almost all of them :)
I did this one today -although nothing is PW, sorry...

What a cute card Angela! What are the little clear round baubles you used?

A lot of people call them "Skittles" but they are round plastic things with flat bottoms. They come in various colors, but I get clear and color the bottoms with my bic markers. You can get them at Michaels, but not in the scrapbook place- I think they are a filler for flower vases or something. There is also a tutorial (http://forum.paperwishes.com/album.php?albumid=36) on the boards on how to make handmade ones that Kissby2 did.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment :)

This 30 second in between post rule really annoys me LOL
But I understand why it's there :)

Cute card Angela! Love all those critters!
Are you talking about clear flat marbles? I've seen them in mesh bags at Michaels in the floral arranging section. Oh, now wait a minute, what I'm talking about are glass. Are there any in the plastic version? Must take a look some time.
And are Bic markers regular ol' felt-tipped markers made by Bic, the maker of ink pens and disposable razors?

Yes, they are plastic, not the large glass (I have those too LOL)
And yes, Bic markers, they are like sharpies, only they don't smell so bad and seem to be a little better for coloring. I use them instead of Copic markers, which are way too expensive for me.

I usually sew my mats to the card itself with the zig on the card and the zag on the mat, being very careful at the corners to see where the needle goes to get good corners. That comes with practice.

The skittles are also called Dew Drops if you go to look for them on the internet.

Ok, Dew Drops, I've seen those in the sb store.

Dew drops are more expensive because of the name :)
