Now that we know that we all hoard (ahem!--collect) different scrap things, how about something we don't care for.
What one thing in your scraproom or scrap area is really gathering dust from non use....????
Mine would be  I have two---My old film camera (a really great SLR camera but since I got the digital I haven't used it much) and---my rubber stamps.

my CM punches. I only have a few but since I have the cricut and expression and cuttlebug etc... I don't use punches anymore.
Great question!

I'm ashamed to say my BIA is still in its box. I have all these ideas in my head of what i can make with it but haven't got round to them yet.
I also have quite a few tubes of glitter that I tend not to use due to being covered in the stuff whenever i use it!!
With regard to stamps, I've really taken up stamping since last year having seen some of the lovely new stamps. I was inspired by the numerous blogs that are around at the moment. once you see some of the cards made, it makes you want to up your game and make just as lovely cards.
I have some links to such blogs on my blog (http://kookaburracrafts.blogspot.com) if you want to take a look.

I bought one of those little crafty sewing machines and have not used it at all. I want to do some stitiching, but figure I can use my regular machine and keep one needle seperate for paper. I think I am going to donate it or sell it at a garage sale.

I am thinking....my SU stamps. I hardly ever make cards anymore. I am into scrapbooking more.

Nothing goes unused in my craft room. If I don't use it for scrapbooking I use it for card making. I can't stand to spend $4.00 on a card so I switch back and forth from scrapbooking and card making. One day I am going to take one whole day and make nothing but cards and maybe I will be caught up on cards for a while.

I just had to have all that chalk!! And the templates. Once I found out how easy it is to use inks it was goodbye chalk.
Teresa
04-03-2009, 06:28 PM
Linden, Don't you stamp your image with ink and then use chalk and a Q-tip and color in your picture. I have done this a few times. I also use colored pencils to color the picture. Coloring with chalk or colored pencils is relaxing.

I would have to say the Fastenator. Cute idea, cute "staples", but I can never seem to get them to look good on a lo.
I purchased a heat embossing gun several months ago but never did anything with it. I make massive quanities of card and to scrapbooking and other papercrafts but never got up the nerve to try any embossing.

My Cricut (it sat on a shelf for over a year unused until a friend borrowed it) and my heat embossing supplies. I cant get heat emboss to come out right to save my life. As for the Cricut, I could never get it to cut correctly without it shredding my paper so after a few months of trying I gave up.
Mine would be stickers. I like to use punches, embellies, cricut and cuttlebug now.

Mine would probably be my sewing machine. Just had to buy a new one a year ago thinking it would spark my interest in sewing again. Bad part is, is that material can be so darn expensive and if something doesn't fit right YOU CAN'T RETURN IT:(:(.
Kind of new to this paper stuff, but having a ball with it.
Cathynurse
04-05-2009, 08:32 AM
too bad about the cricut since it's a great tool, probably just need a few tips
heat embossing isn't hard either, as you heat hold the gun in one place until you see it melts then you move it to the next section
we should swap the stuff we don't use, I use my stickles (glitter glue) on almost everything

:eek:Vellum...And those  little envelopes that come with kits that look like wax paper. I hate trying to use those darn things. I've seen how nice cards can look with those items used but my cards just turn out looking pretty tacky :o so I just packed the things away for another day. Maybe I will get on to it some day.~Sandra~ :)

I just remembered something else that is collecting a lot of dust. It is my sissors that are supposed to give you a pretty edge on your cards. Ever try to use them and get a straight pattern!? It's not easy. My 7 year old grandson uses them. He doesn't care if the project he is working on is straight or not. ~Sandra~

I can't remember the last time I used my chalk. The same with my chipboard. I found a whole bunch of it that I didn't even know I had when I was cleaning my scrap space last week. I have so much stuff that goes unused that my challenge to myself is not to actually buy anything at any of my LSS's but rather make layouts and cards using what I already have. I found things I didn't even remember buying...with price tags still on them, still in the packaging never been used...

Hope you all are having a good evening. I see some of you are having a problem with using glitter. :( I know what you mean ,it is a real mess. I bought glue with glitter in it but it is so hard to be precise with it. A few months ago I was fooling around with nail polish that had glitter in it. I was pleasantly surprized with the results. It's in many colors and not to tough to use to add a little sparkle here and there on your cards or scrapbooks. Just a little hint from me to you. ~Sandra~ :)

Hi Teresa-
I have zero skill w/ chalk, but I do use colored pencil. You're right, it is relaxing. I think it is a reminder of simpler days when Mom brought out the crayons & coloring books for some peace & quiet. Of course, that lasted until we discovered someone else was using a color we just had to have. Have a good day & thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Stickers, glitter, chalk... I can relate to all of you! And there is a whole drawer filled with little metallic embellishments (paillets?) that can be put in shakerboxes. I don't use them, but this tread makes me wonder if I can make shakerboxcards next weekend. Have to make some of that dusty stuff to work for me, don't I?

I had to have the Fiskars shape cutter and the templates - I have some that are pretty intricate and it's too hard for me to cut them very well. I just use my die cutter or a punch. I don't use my chalks or templates very much either.

Gee, isn't that the truth.. I've had mine sitting for the year or so since I bought it, and have only used it a couple times. It's too heavy and bulky to be much use to me. I think the new big bite would be great tho, cause it can reach further. Also, lots of times I've punched where I didn't want to with the Crop a Dile. I was unsure about buying it and now I'm sorry I did.

My cropadile. It is a good tool, but I find it heavy and at times difficult to use, I guess over all I don't use eyelets for any of my projects anymore. They seem to be outdated. I have other eyelet setting tools that work much easier anyway.:(

If I can't see it I don't use it. My lovely boyfriend has promisd to build me some shelves for my scrapspace. He's still "gathering wood". So at present everything is in bags, baskets, boxes and tubs. Some of the smaller tubs are under my table, hence out of site. So Unless I think "Oh I need so and so here." and go get it. I tend not to use it. So the unseen things..my eyelets and brads and flowers are in a wonderful little tacklebox, and my ribbon and gems and some cute little foam shapes and all my 12" long strips are in a cute little container, under the table! lol MY BF says he needs to rent a whole new house for my stuff! lol I say.......um OK....lol

I love those scissors. I am picky about what I buy so I only buy what I know I can use. I think about the item and what I can do with it. Friday I am going to a yard sale that has crafts, supplies and books among other things. Last saturday I come across a lady that used to be a stampin up dealer. My dd is getting started in cards and scrapbooking so all my stuff gets used right now. My dh says I could open a store LOL. He is kidding but you know I would love to open one in my area. I have to drive 45 minutes to a hour to get to a craft store. That means there is no running out and getting something if I need it, so I try to have everything at home that I might need. Thats why I have to think about the item before I buy it because it is to far to just run back and exchange.

Most definitely - I would have to say that awkward Cutter Bee system I thought I just HAD to have. Got both the oval and circle system and STILL cannot figure out how to use the darn thing. I see two more things that are going to be collecting dust now are my corner rounders. Got the new Corner Chomper from Crop-A-Dile - ladies - if you make a lot of chipboard mini books - this tool is a MUST. I'm SUCH a lucky girl - I take a techniques class once a month and we get a chance to try the latest products and tools BEFORE we plunk out the cold hard cash. I have a lot less things collecting dust now. Anyone want a couple corner rounders????? :D Sorry for the lame braile font size - it's late and my eyes are crossing.

I find it difficult to line up my "Fastenator" -- so tend to use brads etc. instead. Does anyone have suggestions on using the Fastenator successfully? - I have lots of "staples" but am reluctant to use because of waste...

I never use my what-do-you-call them? You know, the scissors that were all the rage a few years ago - the ones that cut in different ways? Someone gave me a whole bunch of them and I have never even opened the container. I also never use plain glitter, but I do use glitter glue - it's just so much easier....

It is like that old saying you never need it until you get rid of it. I am going to keep all my stuff until I know I will not be doing crafts anymore. YOU know I was just thinking, what we need to do with our unused craft items is find some young people who would be interest in learning crafts and work with them. Pass it down!

TeresaI totally agree, Teresa! I give away or swap stuff with people all of the time. Doing a supply swap with a friend (like an online friend even - I have friends all over that I haven't "met" in person yet) is really fun because you get to give a box of stuff that is perfectly good but just doesn't work for you and someone else gets some use out of it. Plus you get new-to-you stuff to get excited about, too!
Also, one of my LSS (local scrapbook store) has a donation box and they give supplies to schools and senior centers / homes. How cool is that? I love to know that my unused supplies will be appreciated by someone. :)

It would have to be my Xyron machine. I don't know why I don't use it more, but I tend to grab my zig glue pen first when I'm adhering die cuts and such. A friend swears by her xyron, but mine just sits.

We have a scrap book store in our town that takes a day twice a year and rents out tables for $20.00 a day and you bring your old stuff you no longer use stamps, stickers, paper, tools what ever craft stuff you no longer use and set it up in her store and sell your craft stuff (like a yard sale) and all the customers that come into the store thta day can buy your old stuff and you get to keep all the money of the things you sell.. It works out pretty good I made $150.00 for a 4 hour day...

Hi there,I never did use chalks.I thought it would be messy so I stayed away from them.I have a dear friend who is a beautiful chalker so I just admire her work. :) Stickers, stickers and more stickers.I have tons of them!! I don't buy them anymore unless it is a special one I can't make.I have a lot of punches that I just love.So I punch out my design, decorate, add glue and whala I have a sticker.I think in the long run it is less expensive to buy punches decorate them yourself instead of the stickers from the store.Have you seen the prices on stickers lately!?!?It is really ridiculous. There are so many of us out there crafting that the industry is taking advantage of us. What do you all think?? ~Sandra~

My light up board. It's supposed to help with embossing, but if the paper's thin enough I can see through it with regular light and if it's cardstock, I can't see through it anyway with or without light.

Ummm... another BIG ditto here! I have lots of stuff Ihaven't used yet, but fully intend to. I just have so much stuff, and not enough tim to play with it. lol And I really an not organized in the least. I'm sure my hubby would agree. And so would my sisters too.
Its been fun reading through and seeing what you all like and dislike in your craft supplies. The only bad part about most of them is you don't know till you try them. And some, like the old fashioned glitter, seems almost out of style with the new glitter paints and pens they have out. And I hate to say this but sometimes I think we don't like something because we just can't seem to get it to work. For me its my Notch and Die set. It sits there just looking at me. LOL Hmmm, maybe I need one of the grandkids to come over and show grandma how it works. LOL Hey, they work the cell phone better than me. :rolleyes:LOL
