I love using dimensional lettering but they can get pretty expensive if you use very many. I buy a complete set of chipboard letters and immediately copy them on extra thin poster board that comes with packaged hosery. It words great as a pattern and even looks nice if you use those letters decorated. Just thought I'd share my little tip.

Yes,I agree, anything to save a few pennies here and there. Crafting can get pretty expensive. My advice is to take it slow and really think about what you would really enjoy using. I started out 3 years ago making my own cards and I went overboard on buying everything and anything. Now some of those things are just sitting here collecting dust. Sure wish I would have taken it slower! ~Sandra~

I also use the packaging that cereal, frozen dinners and crackers come in. I just cut the sides and top off and then use it for my chipboard.

I have also used heavy acetate for making templates just like you used the heavy cardboard for your letter templates. The acetate works great if you ever want to ink around your template onto your card or scrapbook page and the acetate can be cleaned off when done.

I needed a cloud template for chalking clouds into the background of some of my cards and a friend had a Sizzix cloud die, so I made one from acetate and now I have a permanent template.

Hope this makes sense...haven't had enough coffee yet this morning.

This is really thrifty... I cut open and flatten paper towel rolls and toilet paper rolls for chipboard. You can also make a darling mini album using toilet paper rolls!

Something else is to use the glossy accents and put it on your chipboard letters and this will also help give dimension and make them pop.
